FAR Part 61
Courses Include: Private Pilot certificate, Commercial
Pilot certificate, Flight Instructor certificate, Flight Instructor
Instrument certificate, Ground Instructor certificate, Airline
Transport Pilot certificate, Instrument rating, Multi-Engine
private and commercial ratings, Multi Engine Instructor rating,
and aircraft specific type ratings.
This lengthy code deals with many aspects of who, what, when,
and how flight training can take place. This includes gliders,
hot air balloons, and of course airplanes. One important regulation
to note is Sec. 61.83 which states you must be at least 16
years old to be eligible for a student pilot certificate and
17 years old to get your actual private pilot license. It
also states you must be able to read, speak, write, and understand
English. Another important regulation is Sec. 61.23 which
states you must have a current FAA Medical Certificate to
